Cetirizine is also known as a non-drowsy antihistamine and it is much less likely to make you feel sleepy than some other antihistamines. How to take Cetirizine
It works by blocking a certain natural substance (histamine) that your body makes during an allergic reaction and gets to work quickly within an hour so it is great as a reactive measure for when you start to present signs of hay fever. This hay fever relief is effective for at least 24 hours following a single dose of cetirizine.
1. Take one 10mg cetirizine tablet once a day and try to take this at the same time each day, either in the morning OR in the evening.
2. You can take loratadine with or without food.
3. Swallow the tablet whole, with a glass of water.
4. It is not harmful if you miss your cetirizine dose.
Loratadine is another common hay fever tablet which works differently to Cetirizine.
