The fermentation process of argan, green tea seed, Chinese camellia (tsubaki), sweet almond and sunflower vegetable oils produces the unique lipid MEL.MEL molecules, characterised by a unique composition of hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups, exhibit a range of valuable skincare properties on the face, as well as the scalp and hair. They penetrate the skin and are very well tolerated by it. - Ceramides are a group of organic compounds classified as sphingolipids, which form a key part of the binder that fills the spaces between the cells of the stratum corneum. Ceramide deficiencies in the epidermis result in increased permeability of the epidermal barrier, leading to increased transepidermal water loss and a decrease in epidermal hydration. Furthermore, a dysfunctional lipid barrier means an increased risk of skin irritation - as it is more permeable to factors of external origin, e.g. allergens or metabolites of the skin microbiota. - Lactobacillus ferment - Lactobacillus plantarum HEAL19, a heat-inactivated strain of lactic acid bacteria. Suitable for use as a cosmetic ingredient, with proven effects on the skin condition, including the scalp.For Lactobacillus plantarum HEAL19, a number of properties have been demonstrated in in vitro and ex vivo studies: stimulation of filaggrin synthesis, which has the effect of strengthening the epidermal barrier, anti-inflammatory effects, induction of antimicrobial peptides (AMP) genes.
